Excellent article, thank you. Lots to contemplate. I'm with Buckminster Fuller -- we don't take on the system on its own terms, we live in such a way as to make it irrelevant.
What Gardner seems to be describing would necessitate a fundamental alteration to the very foundations of the architecture of society. Ironically, it would need to happen from the top down, as this shift is antithetical to pure profit motives.
Another great post about how humans will always have a real edge over AI . Thanks for the insight. I ordered the 2007 book, looking forward to reading it!

Beutifully said Joshua, Fuller was right for sure

Exactly, we need an overhaul of education of the young and a re-education of the people at the top...
I can already hear the protestations of "debt and deficit" hawks in every legislature.
Perhaps a restructuring of how we educate children should also be considered otherwise how do you achieve the minds Gardner sees us needed.
Exactly Angela, it is essential but our education authorities seem to be buried in a time warp!
Well said. My thoughts: https://www.whitenoise.email/p/eleven-rules-to-stay-relevant-in

Great food for thought...not to be scoffed...but slowly digested...this is not junk food at all.
Thank You
